Violet & Grey Ringed Arch Resin Sculpture, 50cm, arched form with concentric rings fading from grey to violet above a rough black textured base, on a plain white background.
Violet & Grey Ringed Arch Resin Sculpture - 50cm $2,90200
Description

An arched slab cut into concentric rings from the crown down, rising out of a rough foot worked into the same body. Grey in the outer rings across the top of the arch deepens to violet at the centre of the rings, low down, with the rock beneath it close to black. Nothing is supplied under it: the rough foot is part of the sculpture and the piece stands on that.

Turning a Gradient Into Steps

Cutting concentric rings turns a continuous colour run into a readable set of steps, which is the one thing a graduation on its own cannot do. Colour that runs continuously through a body is read as one thing, a blur between two ends. Cutting it into steps gives the eye something to count, and counting is how anybody measures a graduation they could not otherwise describe. Cutting concentric rings into a graded body means every ring shows a different point along the colour run, and the material turns a gradient into a set of steps. The rings are polished and the foot is left rough, so two surfaces meet on one object and neither is hidden.

Put it on a console, a long sideboard or a wide shelf, and set it square rather than at an angle. A plain wall behind it. The rings are pattern enough without a patterned ground. Light from one side catches every ring edge and turns the arch into a set of bright lines. The rings read as one arch from across a room and as separate cuts from a pace away.

Opening the Rings, and Carrying It on Its Faces

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The ring count can be opened, the violet can be carried up to the crown and the grey brought down, and the rough foot can be polished out. Open the ring count and the pitch changes with it, since the arch keeps its own span rather than growing to hold more rings. It arrives in one crate and nothing is done to it on site beyond setting it square. Two people. The arch is thin in the depth and should be carried on its faces. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Concentric rings cut into an arch above a rough foot lead to our organic sculptures; the violet and grey casting belongs with our resin sculptures, and more to set square to a wall is in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
