Turquoise Polished Wave Crest Resin Sculpture (66cm) showing a curling wave form with ribbed texture, self-standing, against a plain light grey background.
Turquoise Polished Wave Crest Resin Sculpture - 66cm $2,71300
Description

This cast resin sculpture is a wave crest at the moment it curls over, the lip carried out well past the foot so that the whole reads as one motion held still. It stands on its own without a base. The surface is worked in broad flowing ribs that run with the curl along the crest and the long tail, crowd into close pleats where the form turns down through its upright column, and end beneath the low arch in a fringe of hanging points. The material is a green-blue turquoise and highly polished, so the ribs carry bright lines along their length and the body is clear enough to read the far side of the curl through the near one.

A Curl Held at the Point of Breaking

Polishing a compound curve is a different job from polishing a flat face, and this piece has almost no flat face to offer. Ribs, pleats and hanging points are all brought to the same high gloss, the tight folds of the column and the tips beneath the arch as much as the broad ribs of the crest, because a dull passage anywhere would read as a scratch across the light, and on a piece whose whole effect is its highlights that would be fatal. The clarity is the same argument. Polish is what makes the material transparent rather than merely translucent, and it is what lets the underside of the curl show through the front of it.

This sits at table and console height and it should be set where the curl is seen from the side, because the profile is the piece: face on it is a bright mass, and from the side it is a wave. With the lip turned towards the room and never into a corner, it suits a sideboard, a credenza or the length of a broad console. It needs light behind it more than on it. A window at its back turns the whole body into one lit form and the highlights run the length of every rib; a spotlight in front of it picks out the polish as a set of hard white spots and hides everything the transparency is doing.

Polish, Tint and Handling

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The span of the curl and the depth of the tint are drawn per piece, so a version reaching much further across a console or one worked to a tighter curl are both available from this design. The finish is a choice in its own right: this high polish, or a frosted surface that turns the same form from a study of light into a study of weight. Colour is settled at order, from this turquoise through a clear body with no tint, an amber, or a graded blue that deepens towards the foot. Lift it by the body of the curl, never by the lip or by the hanging points beneath it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A crest held at the moment it curls over belongs with organic sculpture; the clear body carrying it is resin sculpture; and the polish that makes it read stays sharp in indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
