Turquoise Granular Wave Curl Resin Sculpture, 60cm, curling from deep blue to clear white at the tip, on a white block base against a plain background.
Turquoise Granular Wave Curl Resin Sculpture - 60cm $3,10300
Description

This turquoise wave rolls round into a curl, its surface left granular all over, so the light breaks up across it into a mass of small glints rather than one sheet of reflection. The curl comes round about three quarters of a turn, and the tip finishes above the trough rather than inside it. The turquoise is deepest low in the body and fades through the crest, so the curl runs clear and milky white towards its hooked tip, and the wave stands on the white marble block it comes with.

Granular All Over, With Nothing Polished

A granular surface is a decision that cannot be half made. Light arriving at a polished face leaves it again in one direction; light arriving at a granular one scatters, and the piece looks as though it holds its own light. That only holds while the surface is granular everywhere. A smooth patch the size of a thumbnail would behave like a mirror in the middle of a granular field and be the first thing anyone noticed. Here the grain runs unbroken over the whole surface, the open inside of the curl and the hooked tip included, so the piece reads as one body of moving water from every side.

A granular surface goes flat under a spotlight, so it wants daylight or a soft lamp rather than a downlighter. A hard beam lands on the near face, blows it out and leaves the curl behind it in shadow, which is precisely the opposite of what the finish is for. Near a window, or under a shaded lamp, the whole body glows evenly and the turquoise deepens. It needs a generous surface and sits low, so a coffee table or a broad shelf both suit it.

Depth of Colour, the Open Curl and Delivery

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The surface is granular everywhere and the light has to scatter evenly across it, so a smooth patch shows up as a flaw. The turquoise is taken deeper or paler, the curl is drawn more open, and a polished version of the same wave is made. The marble block under it is cut to other sizes, and it can be had in black as well as this white. It travels on its side in a foam-lined case with the stone packed apart, and it is set on the stone on site, which is all the assembly there is. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A curl left granular rather than polished is organic sculpture; the turquoise runs through resin sculpture; and a scattering surface reads best in indoor sculpture light.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
