The Traditional Chinese Ding Vessel Bronze Sculpture stands 30cm tall, presenting the ancient tripod cauldron form in cast bronze with dark patinated surfaces, raised taotie mask reliefs, and fine gold and white metal inlay accents across its body and legs.
This piece is produced using the lost-wax casting method, which allows the intricate taotie animal mask motifs, interlocking scroll and cloud banding, and spherical boss eyes to be rendered in precise high relief. Once cast, each vessel is hand-finished to develop its characteristic deep brown-black patina, with subtle green oxidation tones that reinforce the aged, archival quality of the surface. The gold and silver-white metal inlay detailing on the leg panels and body is applied by hand, catching light to articulate the geometry of the decorative programme. Twin rectangular loop handles rise from the rim, and three cylindrical legs elevate the cauldron body in the classic tripod configuration of the original Zhou and Shang-period forms.
At 30cm and 7kg, this is a substantial desk or cabinet piece suited to interiors where material authenticity matters: a dark wood study, a minimalist gallery shelf, a collector's cabinet, or a display alongside other East Asian antiquities. The dark bronze tones sit comfortably against walnut, lacquer, slate, and stone surfaces. While durable enough for sheltered outdoor display, this vessel reads most powerfully indoors where the inlay detailing can be appreciated at close range.
We offer alternative patina finishes including warmer brown-gold tones, polished lacquered bronze, and verdigris-dominant surfaces. The vessel can also be scaled upward for use as a centrepiece or architectural accent. If you are interested in a commission inspired by the work of Shang and Zhou dynasty bronzeware traditions, or require a pair or series, contact us before ordering so we can discuss the full scope of the project.
