Giant Sculptures Traditional Children on Tortoise Bronze Sculpture 140cm, two children seated back-to-back on a spiral-shelled tortoise with arms raised, verdigris patina.
Traditional Children on Tortoise Bronze Sculpture - 140cm $25,91500
Description

Traditional Children on Tortoise Bronze Sculpture, standing 140cm tall, captures two young girls seated back-to-back on the broad, spiral-patterned shell of a large tortoise, both with arms raised and outstretched in a gesture of pure, uninhibited joy.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished

This piece is produced using the lost-wax casting method, a process that faithfully preserves every surface detail: the interlocking geometry of the tortoise shell, the soft folds of the children's clothing, the pigtail hairstyles, and the expressive lift of each raised arm. The finished surface carries a deep antique bronze patina, rich dark brown across the figures with green verdigris oxidation settling naturally into the clothing recesses and shell crevices. Each casting is hand-finished to ensure the patina reads with the depth and character of a gallery-grade piece rather than a uniform production finish.

At 250kg and 140cm tall, this is a commanding garden presence. The tortoise forms its own integral base, resting directly on any flat surface without requiring a separate plinth. It suits large lawns, formal garden axes, courtyard centres, and estate terraces where a focal sculpture is needed at a scale that holds ground. The warm bronze tones pair naturally with stone paving, clipped hedging, and weathered timber, and the playful figurative subject works equally well in institutional settings: school gardens, hospital grounds, and public parks.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

Patina options include natural antique brown, cool graphite, warm verde, and full dark oxidation. The composition can be scaled up or down to suit your site, and bespoke commissions can incorporate specific shell detail variations or alternative figure poses inspired by the work of traditional figurative sculptors. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements and we will confirm lead time and specification in writing.
