The top of this timber and cast resin bench is a plank of solid timber that keeps its natural live edge down each long side, so the outline follows the tree rather than a saw. Running the length of it is a river of clear resin, wide in places and narrow in others, filling the natural void down the middle of the board and finished flush with the surface. The timber is a warm honey with darker figure. Two plinths carry it, each a plain black block, square in section and set well in from the ends.
Timber and resin are given equal weight here and neither is disguised. The board keeps its live edge along both long sides, so the outline of the bench is the outline of the tree, and the figure in the surface runs from a warm honey into darker streaks. Down the middle the natural void is filled with clear resin, finished flush with the timber so a hand passes across the join without feeling it, and the river widens and narrows as the void does. The contrast is total: clear resin against figured honey, with the dark edge of the void drawing a hard line between them. The two plinths are plain black blocks, square and unornamented, set well in from the ends so the board reads as cantilevered.
This bench works at the foot of a bed, along a hall wall, or as a low table in front of a long sofa. The live edge is the piece, so it should stand clear of a wall rather than tight against it. Timber and a dark plinth suit a hard floor better than a deep carpet, which swallows the black blocks. It takes two people. Keep it inside.
Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The timber selection sets the pace here. You settle three things. The length is quoted to your figure, the resin river is offered in other colours, and the plinths can be finished in a pale tone instead of black. Which board is used is ours to choose, since no two have the same void. The overall length and the top thickness follow your figures. Ordered as a group, the pieces are worked together so the figure in the timber lines up. Packed with the live edge along both long sides shielded, it needs four people at the door. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Black fibreglass plinths under a live-edge plank link this bench with our fibreglass sculptures; beside a bed or along a hall it serves among our art furniture, and the meeting of timber and clear resin suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
