In this bench a length of pale timber with an adzed top runs the whole way along: at one end it turns down to the floor as a broad curved leg, and at the other it continues into a block of clear resin carried on a short gilded pedestal worked in relief. The timber and the resin meet without a break in the line of the seat, so the eye reads one continuous top on two entirely different supports.
The board is dried and stabilised and the top is adzed by hand, so the surface carries the tool and not a sanded finish. The curved leg is worked from the same length rather than joined on, which means the grain runs unbroken from the seat round into the floor, and getting a curve of that radius out of one board is what sets the schedule. At the other end the resin block is cast against the timber so nothing shows at the meeting, and the two are brought to one plane across the top afterwards, working a soft material and a hard one to the same level. The pedestal is worked in relief and gilded by hand, and its bearing face is levelled against the leg at the far end before the bench is set down.
It suits an entrance hall, a bedroom or a window bay. The two ends are not alike, so it is worth deciding which way round it faces before it is placed. The resin end is read through, which means what is behind it becomes part of it, and the gilded pedestal catches whatever light is in the room. The timber end is solid and heavy and the resin end is not, so the bench is steadier than its footprint suggests.
Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. Most of it is the gilded pedestal. Three things can change. The gilding can be left off and the pedestal finished in the same timber, and the resin end can be tinted rather than left clear. Tell us the bench length and the resin depth. Order more than one together and the adzing of the top is matched across them. The packing protects the adzed top and the gilded pedestal; moving it wants two people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Adzed timber running into a clear block on a gilded foot gives our art furniture a bench; the timber suits our organic sculptures, the clear end our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
