Teal Scaled Looping Sweep Resin Sculpture - 34cm by Giant Sculptures, an arching looped form with radiating scale texture fading from deep teal to white, on a clear acrylic base against a plain light background.
Teal Scaled Looping Sweep Resin Sculpture - 34cm $2,08500
Description

A broad scaled sweep rises from one foot, arches up and over, and drops down the opposite side as a narrowing neck, then turns back along the base as a narrow band that lifts into a low arch before closing the loop at its first foot. The scales are set in radiating bursts rather than in rows. The teal runs deepest down the narrow side and at its foot, pales to a milky white across the upper part of the broad side, and all but fades from the low arch, whose ovals are drawn in fine dark outline. The clear block is supplied, and the loop meets it at its two feet.

Where the Scaling Has to Stop

Running one band all the way round means the surface has to change its character without a break. Over the broad side the scales stand proud in radiating bursts, each opening from its own centre; as the band narrows and turns back along the base, they give way to a mesh of open ovals drawn in dark outline, with a line of small beads along the edge of the low arch. The change happens where the band turns at its narrow foot, and the eye follows it round without a break in the line. The scales are polished and the ovals left glassy, so the piece is most textured where it is broadest and clearest where it runs thin.

Put it on a side table where the low arch can face into the room. A plain surface behind lets the opening through the middle read clearly; a busy one fills it. Raking light along the top of the sweep lifts the bursts of scales one after another, while the ovals of the low arch stay glassy. It reads as a single looping line from across the room and as a field of scales from a pace away.

Lifting the Arch, and Delivery

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The low arch is lifted higher, the bursts of scales are carried further round the loop, and the teal is graded from the top of the sweep instead. Lift the arch and the opening through the middle grows with it, since the loop is drawn as one continuous band. It arrives as two parts; the block is levelled first and the sweep set down on it, and it is carried by the broad side, never by the low arch. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A teal sweep that loops round to close along its base in a low arch of glassy ovals belongs with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
