Teal Scaled Channelled Loop Resin Sculpture - 35cm, a closed loop form with scaled texture deepening to navy, set on a clear block against a plain white background.
Teal Scaled Channelled Loop Resin Sculpture - 35cm $2,08500
Description

A closed loop scaled all over except for one smooth channel that runs up the inside of the ring on one side, where the band rises. One teal runs the whole scaled surface, pale at the tips of the scales and deepening to navy at the foot and along the outer rim, and the smooth channel is left almost colourless against it. The clear block is bought with it, cut square and set under the lowest run of the ring.

Texture Against Its Own Absence

The same surface with a smooth passage cut through it is a different argument: the piece is now about the contrast rather than about the texture. The channel is narrow enough that the scaling still dominates and wide enough to be unmistakably deliberate, and getting that width right is most of the work in the piece. The smooth channel and the scaled wall meet without a seam anywhere along the join between them. Polished on the scales and polished in the channel, so the two surfaces differ by texture alone.

A console or a long shelf, turned so the channel faces the room. Anything patterned behind it competes with the scaling, so keep the wall plain. Light finds the smooth channel first and the scales second, which is the order the piece wants to be read in. The channel is what carries at a distance; the scales are the near work.

Widening the Channel, and Delivery

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The channel is drawn wider or narrower, a second colour is put through the scales, and a stone block replaces the clear one. Widen the channel and the scaled area shrinks with it, because the two share one wall between them. Two parts in one crate, and the loop is lowered onto the block once the block is where it will stay; the loop is lifted by its scaled wall, never by the smooth channel. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A scaled teal ring with one smooth, colourless channel up its inside is listed with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
