Teal Overlapping Scale Loop Resin Sculpture (35cm) by Giant Sculptures, a looped form of overlapping teardrop scales in petrol teal to green, on a clear acrylic base against a plain white background.
Teal Overlapping Scale Loop Resin Sculpture - 35cm $2,08500
Description

A closed loop with an opening through the middle, its whole surface built from overlapping teardrop scales. A deep petrol teal holds the top of the loop and both of its feet, and the colour turns greener through the middle of each side, with each scale reading a fraction apart from its neighbour; the outermost tips clear almost to colourless. A clear block comes with it, thin enough to read as a line of light rather than as a mass.

Several Hundred Small Decisions

A surface made of overlapping scales has to decide how big a scale is, and that one decision sets everything else about the piece. These are small enough that the loop still reads as one form from a pace away, and any coarser they would become the subject and the loop would become the thing they sit on. Every scale is formed in the resin rather than applied to it, so the surface is one piece with the body. Each scale is left with its own small dome of gloss, so the surface glitters rather than shines.

It suits a shelf where the clear block can be seen underneath it. A dark wall makes the scales carry; a pale one flattens them into a single surface. Each scale takes its own small highlight, so one lamp makes several hundred of them. From away it is a dark loop, and the scales are entirely a close-range fact.

Scale Size, Colour and Getting It Home

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The scales are made coarser, the teal is taken to amber, and the clear block is replaced with black stone. Coarsen the scales and the loop thickens to carry them, so the opening closes a little. The clear block ships separately from the loop and is put in place first. The loop should be taken round the body rather than through the opening, and the block is lifted by its edges. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A teal loop scaled all over in overlapping teardrops, raised on a clear block, sits among our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
