A rounded shield in a grey body, swelling gently toward the centre, with teal through the middle of it and black outlines drawn across the face in closed shapes. There is no combed field on this one, so the marks carry the whole face. A black marble block holds it upright and is included.
Where a shield carries a combed field, the ink acts as a weight against it. This one has no field at all, so the ink has to carry the whole face on its own, and that changes how it is drawn. A combed region gives the eye a texture to compare the marks against; without one, marks scattered across a clear body read as dirt. What saves it is that they are closed outlines rather than strokes. A closed line encloses an area, and the eye takes an enclosed area as a shape whether or not it recognises it, so the face becomes a map rather than a smudged surface. The rounded outline of the shield is doing the same work from the other direction: an edge with no corners gives the marks nothing to align to, which is what keeps them reading as found shapes rather than as a pattern someone laid out.
At 33cm it suits a desk, a shelf or a mantel where it will be seen close. Like the others it reads by what passes through it, but it asks less of the position than the combed ones: the ink is opaque and reads against a wall as well as against a window. Light from the side picks up the curve of the face, which a frontal light flattens.
Allow 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The ink is drawn as fewer and broader marks, the teal is deepened, and the shield is made rounder still. The marks are also drawn fewer and broader, which turns the face from a map into a few large shapes and changes the piece entirely, and the outline is drawn at other spans in the same stone. A combed field is offered on part of the face, which gives the ink a texture to sit against. It ships on its edge in a single flat case with the stone apart, and one person takes the casting by its rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Outlines drawn across a curve is organic sculpture; the teal is held in resin sculpture; and a shield this size is indoor sculpture shelf work.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
