Teal Diamond Shield with Ink Resin Sculpture - 40cm
Teal Diamond Shield with Ink Resin Sculpture - 40cm $1,75600
Description

A flat shield of smoke grey resin, slim from front to back and turned onto its point, so it stands as a diamond. The combed field is drawn as a teardrop running corner to corner, with teal held in its fine parallel lines, and the ink is taken down one side in a broken, wandering edge. Beneath it sits a black marble block, supplied with the shield.

The Same Field, Set on the Diagonal

Turning a shield onto its point changes what the field can do. On the upright form the combed region sits square to the frame and reads as a panel within it; set on the diagonal there is no square to sit within, so the field has to carry its own shape, and here it is drawn as a teardrop that runs corner to corner. That gives the eye a direction, which the upright version gets from its frame and this one would otherwise lack. The ink is moved for the same reason. On the upright piece it sits low and acts as a weight; here it runs down one side and acts as an edge, because a diamond balanced on a point needs something to say which way is down. Without it the piece is symmetrical in a way that reads as unresolved rather than as calm.

At 40cm it wants a surface where the diagonal has room above it, since the top point is the part that gets knocked: a shelf with clearance, a mantel, a console below a picture rather than beside one. Like the upright shield it works on transmitted light and needs something behind it to displace. A pale wall directly behind flattens the combed teardrop into a smudge and loses most of what the piece does.

The Diamond, the Field, and Delivery

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. The field is set at another angle, the ink is taken out entirely, and the shield is cast at other spans. The field is also drawn at other angles across the diamond, which changes the piece considerably, and the same shield is worked at other spans on this stone. A tinted body is offered and works against the design rather than with it, since colour through the whole casting removes the contrast between the combed region and the clear body that the composition depends on. One flat case carries it on edge with both faces padded, and one person lifts it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A field set on the diagonal belongs with our organic sculptures; teal combed into smoke grey resin leads to our resin sculptures, and a shield for a console below a picture joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
