The face of this wave is opened by a row of tall slots, so the water reads as a set of ribs rising together. From the crest a long tongue of spray curls out to one side, and above it the top of the wave rolls over in short fingers. The body is teal and the ribs and tongue clear towards their edges; it rests on a slim marble base.
Cutting slots through the face of a wave does two things at once: it lightens a heavy form and it shows the wave's inner structure, the lines along which the water rises. Each rib is drawn a little differently, thicker at the root and thinner at the crest, and the slots between them narrow as they climb, so the whole face seems to lift. The teal is held in the body and let go at the ribs' edges, which outlines each one in light. The curling tongue gives the piece its movement sideways.
At this size it fits on a sideboard, a console or a broad desk, placed so the slots can be looked through. Put it in front of a window or a lit wall so the light shows between the ribs; against a dark background the teal turns deep and the clear edges glow. It is best seen slightly from the side, which opens the slots.
A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. It is made in this teal, and the tint can be taken to a cornflower blue, a green or an amber, or left out altogether for a clear wave; the slots can be cut wider for a more open face. The tongue of spray can reach out more boldly or stay tucked near the crest. The wave and its marble base come packed together in one padded crate, the tongue braced against the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Ribs of teal water opened up by tall slots belong with our organic sculptures, our contemporary and modern sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
