A block table in timber and clear resin. A squared timber log stands on end inside a clear resin case that covers every face. The timber is a rich mid brown with pale cream sapwood stripes running the full height and a dark bark line held at two of the arrises. The log's end grain sits in the top face, level with the resin around it, so the whole top is one flat surface made of two materials.
The top face is where this block is read, because it is the one place the two materials meet on the same plane. The log's end grain sits level with the resin around it, polished to the same degree, so the eye crosses from timber to clear without a step. One split runs straight across the end grain and carries on down the front face as a dark seam. Down the sides the timber's pale sapwood stripes run the full height between the darker heartwood, and at two of the arrises a dark bark line is held inside the clear margin. Every log gives a different arrangement of stripe and bark.
At 80cm high the block stands at console height and works as a plinth for a lamp or a piece of sculpture, or as a narrow hall table. The end grain in the top is the part that will be looked at, so place it where it can be seen from above. It is heavy and should be set down once. A pale wall lets the dark heartwood read, and light from above brings up the sapwood stripes. Indoors only.
Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. The timber is the slow part. Three of its features are open. Which log goes in is the first decision and the studio will show the selected stock before work starts, because stripe and bark cannot be specified precisely. How much clear surrounds it is second, from this narrow margin out to a wide border that leaves the timber apparently floating. And the top, where the end grain can sit level as it does here or be covered by a clear layer over it. Tell us the plan and the height. Sets are worked from one lot so the colour is even. It is crated singly and wants two people at the door. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A striped log cased in clear resin serves as a table in our art furniture; its bark and sapwood tie it to our organic sculptures, and the glassy casing to our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
