Steel Blue Pierced Fin Cast Resin Sculpture - 83cm, an upright pierced abstract form shading from clear to steel blue, on a black marble base, shown against a plain white background.
Steel Blue Pierced Fin Cast Resin Sculpture - 83cm $2,02400
Description

An upright pierced form in a cool steel blue, clear at the pointed tip and deepening to slate blue at the foot. Round openings of different sizes are cut through the body, from a broad one under the tip to little circles midway and a long gap near the base, and fins break the outline at either side. Under it is a black marble base, supplied with the sculpture.

Steel Blue Graded from a Clear Tip

Steel blue is a colder colour than the deep blue of the graduated version, and it changes how the openings read. Ringed in slate, each hole looks cut from metal rather than worn by water, and the clear tip at the top reads as ice. The grade from tip to foot runs without a line, and the fins are left paler than the body so that they stand out from it. Every opening is polished through, and the surface is glossy all over. The shape is unchanged; only the key is cooler.

Its 83cm suits a console or a sideboard in a modern room, beside steel, concrete or white plaster. Its footprint is narrow, so it fits a tight run of surface. Turn the fins into the room and keep the wall behind it plain, so the openings register; daylight from one side brings out the slate at the foot.

Slate, Steel, and Getting It There

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The blue can be taken colder toward grey or warmed toward the deep blue of the graduated form, and the point where the clear tip ends can be set at order. Other tints are offered. The base is cut in a paler stone on request. It travels in a fitted case lined with foam, the marble in a box of its own, and it is held by the body with the fins clear of anything hard. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A steel blue fin opened by round holes belongs with our abstract sculptures; openings ringed in slate like cut metal join it to our organic sculptures, and a cool grade running through a glossy casting suits our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
