Smoked Grey Tube Frame Resin Armchair - 85cm
Smoked Grey Tube Frame Resin Armchair - 85cm $5,80200
Description

A cast resin armchair deep enough front to back to sit right into. One thick tube forms the entire back and both arms in a single curve, and each end is cut flat and polished, so the arms finish in two dark discs. The tube is a smoked grey, translucent and glossy enough to hold a hard highlight along its whole length. Inside it sits a soft upholstered seat in a grey-blue, and four clear round legs run to the floor.

One Tube Doing the Work of Back and Arms

One tube does the work of a back, two arms and the whole upper structure, and its two flat ends show the full girth of it. Look at either arm end and the cut face reads as a solid dark disc, far deeper in tone than the curve beside it. The smoked grey is even along the whole run and the gloss is high enough that the tube carries one continuous highlight from arm to arm, breaking only where the curve turns away. Against that the upholstered seat is entirely matte and entirely opaque, so the chair reads as a soft object held inside a hard outline. From behind, the room shows through the tube.

The chair is wide for its height and sits low, which suits it to a living room rather than a table. It reads best with space at the sides, because the dark disc ends are the detail and they face outward. Give it a plain floor: the tube is translucent and picks up whatever is beneath it. The upholstered seat is the only soft part and it is the part that will show wear first. Indoors only.

The Upholstery, the Tint, and the Flat Tube Ends

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. The upholstery is the slow part. There are three decisions. The upholstery is the first choice: this grey-blue velvet, a leather, or a plain woven cloth. The tint of the tube is second, from this smoked grey through to an amber, a clear, or a deeper charcoal. And the tube ends, cut flat as they are here or finished in a rounded dome, which softens the outline of the whole chair. You name the seat height and the overall width. A pair is worked together so the tone relates. It travels in a single crate; two people place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A smoked tube bent into back and arms in one sweep makes a seat for our art furniture; the unbroken curve answers to our organic sculptures, and the tinted casting to our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
