The body of the fish in this cast resin sculpture is compact and clouded with smoke, and everything attached to it is drawn out: the tail and both side fins run away from it in long trailing veils with wavy edges, and the colour falls off along their length until the tips are barely coloured at all. Standing, the veils reach well past the body in three directions and the piece takes up far more room than the fish itself does.
The veils are the reason this takes as long as it does. They are wide, they are thin, and they curve in two directions at once, so each one is worked from both faces and the wavy edge is followed rather than straightened. An edge left square catches the light as a hard white line and destroys the illusion of cloth, so every edge is rounded off by hand along its whole run. The colour grade is the other slow part: smoke at the body falling to almost nothing at the tips has to arrive as a smooth run with no band anywhere in it, and a band cannot be corrected afterwards. Pieces are compared against each other before any of them is signed off, since the grade is the thing a buyer notices first and the one thing that cannot be adjusted later.
All three veils show at once from the front and a little above, which is the view to give it, so a low chest or a broad shelf at hip height suits it better than a high plinth. Set it against the light rather than in front of it: the smoked body reads deep and solid while the veil tips almost vanish, which is the whole point of the grading. Leave generous clearance on all sides, since the veils are the widest part and the least visible. It is not a piece for a busy hallway.
Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. Veil length is open and the tail can be cut back from this one or carried further, and the grade can be set to fall away faster or to run the same grey right to the tips. Other colours are made the same way, with an amber, a green and a red all offered. Sizes are cut to order and a facing pair is made where two are wanted. Each fish travels in a fitted crate with the veils supported along their length, and the packing is worth keeping. Two people should place it, taking the weight under the body only. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A fish trailing veils of fin and tail belongs with our figurative sculptures; wavy edges drawn out like cloth lead to our organic sculptures, and smoke fading to clear joins our resin sculptures.

Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
