Description

This wave has a body of smoked brown that deepens to near black in the long swell at its foot. It rises at one end into a tall curl that turns over itself, and the top of the curl clears to colourless resin, its outer edge lined with pointed spikes and its face set with small looped beads, while a single drop falls from its lip. At the far end the swell runs out long and low and finishes in two rounded lobes.

A Dark Swell Crowned With Clear Spray

Smoke is an unusual colour for water, and it changes the mood entirely: this is the sea at dusk, or in a storm, rather than a bright summer wave. The colour is at its densest in the swell, almost black, and clears through brown to colourless as the curl rises, so the crest reads as light breaking out of darkness. The spikes along the crest stand sharp against the clear curl, the looped beads between them read as spray, and the single falling drop at the lip gives the moment its exact timing, as if the wave were caught in the instant before it breaks.

Place it on a plinth, a console or a sideboard, in a sitting room, a study or a hall, where it is met at a slight angle so the curl shows its depth. A pale wall behind it shows the clear crest; daylight from behind makes the smoke glow amber. It sits well with dark wood, leather and bronze.

Smoke, Crest and Delivery

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The smoke can be taken lighter, towards amber, or darker, towards black, or replaced with a sea colour, or with clear resin, and the curl can be made fuller. An amber wave is warmer and brighter; a blue one returns it to the sea. The falling drop can also be left off for a quieter crest. It travels in one crate with the crest and the drop padded, and it is lifted by the swell, never by the curl. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
