Smoked Black Double Loop Hanging Resin Sculpture (82cm) by Giant Sculptures, a twisted band with cupped curves fading from black to translucent grey, suspended against a plain white background.
Smoked Black Double Loop Hanging Resin Sculpture - 82cm $7,22300
Description

A hanging piece, as broad and as deep as it is high: a band of smoked resin twisted into a double loop, so that a pair of wide cupped curves cross at the centre around a round opening. The colour is black at the edges and pales across the broad faces to a translucent grey, which makes the band look as if it were turning in the light. It hangs from a single fine line at the crown of the upper loop.

A Smoked Band Turned Twice in the Air

A band that turns back on itself has no front and no back, and hanging it lets that be seen: it moves slowly on its line and shows a different face each time. The smoke is graded to make the most of this. It is densest at the edges, where the band is seen end on and reads as a black line drawing the figure, and it lightens across the broad faces, where it turns translucent and grey. The crossing at the centre is kept open, so the two loops never merge into one mass.

At 82cm it hangs well in a stairwell, a double-height hall, a bay window or over a table, anywhere with air around it and a view up to it. It needs a secure fixing above and enough drop to clear heads and turn freely. It is at its best against daylight, which lights the grey faces and leaves the edges black; against a dark wall it becomes a pure silhouette. From across the room it is a slow-turning figure; closer, the grading of the smoke shows.

Smoke, Colour and Hanging It

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. It can be made in clear, amber or a deep blue instead of the smoke, and the band can be graded more strongly or kept to an even tone. An even tone makes it read as a solid ribbon and not a turning one. It is packed in a single crate with the loops braced, and once a secure fixing overhead is in, one person can hang it and adjust the drop. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A band turned twice in the air belongs with our abstract sculptures; smoked resin paling to grey leads to our resin sculptures, and a loop to turn slowly over a double-height hall joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
