Smoke Grey Fan-Vaned Spiral Resin Sculpture, 61cm, with three wrapping vaned fans on a black base, shown against a plain white background.
Smoke Grey Fan-Vaned Spiral Resin Sculpture - 61cm $2,31000
Description

An even smoke grey carries through all of this cast resin form, from a dark foot out to the tip of its widest fan, so the whole piece has the soft, cool tone of tinted glass. Above the foot three vaned fans wrap round each other: the first opens into a sweeping wing with a deep grey scoop on its inner face, another climbs to a rolled rim behind it, and the last curls over above them both. Black marble, cut as a plain block, forms its base.

One Smoke Tone From Foot to Wingtip

Holding a single smoke tone through the whole spiral changes how the form reads. With no clear passages to draw the eye, the silhouette of its fans and the rhythm of their vanes do all the work: long lines sweeping round the scoop of the wing, a lattice of crossing vanes on the fan behind it, and the tight turn of the curl at its crown. The grey deepens wherever the fans overlap and in the foot, so the spiral reads darkest at its root and opens into lighter grey as it climbs.

Standing 61cm with its block, it fits a console, a sideboard or a writing desk, whether in a study, a library or a boardroom, and its grey settles easily among black, white, stone and timber. Against a white wall the vanes read sharply; against charcoal the piece becomes quieter and more sculptural. A lamp to one side throws the vanes into relief. Indoor use only.

Smoke Tone, the Stone and Lifting It

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Commissioned, the smoke can be made paler, close to clear, or deeper, near to black, and it can be graded so that the fans clear towards their rims; the vanes themselves can be made finer or bolder. Its base can be white or grey marble rather than black. To move it, take it up by the marble with both hands, the foot held upright, and never by the wingtip or the topmost curl. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An even smoke tone carried through three vaned fans places this spiral with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
