Smoke Grey Arched Abstract Resin Sculpture - 129cm, a curved form rising from a splayed foot to a flared, almost clear top, set on a black marble base against a plain light background.
Smoke Grey Arched Abstract Resin Sculpture - 129cm $3,91500
Description

An arched upright in smoke grey cast resin. The body rises off a splayed foot, arches right over at the top and opens into a flared mouth, with a fin-like plane thrown out to one side at about half height. Smoke grey holds the foot and the standing body and thins as the arch rises, so the turn at the top is almost colourless. A low black marble slab comes with it and makes up part of the height.

What an Arch That Size Has to Do

One design cast at four sizes is not one object at four sizes: the arch reaches further past the foot as it grows, and at this size that is the whole structural problem. Nothing about the profile is symmetrical and nothing repeats, so the piece has a front and two very different quarter views, and the one you turn into the room is a decision worth making on the day rather than at the door. The arch carries its whole top outside the foot, and cast resin is the only material here that would hold that shape at this size. Polished right through, so the grey is read in depth rather than off the surface.

A hall or a stairwell, with generous clear air above the slab. It wants a pale wall. Smoke grey against dark panelling loses the whole upper half of the piece. A single source high and to one side gives the arch its edge; flat light leaves it grey and shapeless. The arch is what carries across a hall, and the flare at the top only resolves as you approach.

Other Colourways, and Getting It Through the Door

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The arch is drawn further over, another colour replaces the grey, and pale marble is cut for the slab. Draw the arch further over and the foot is broadened to carry it, because everything above it is cantilevered off that splay. The same form is made in amber, in olive grey and in clear on a white slab, and each changes what the arch does. The slab goes down and is levelled, the casting is lowered onto it, and nothing fixes the two together. Two people and a clear approach. Two people, hands under the standing body and never on the flare. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Arched and flaring forms of this family continue through our organic sculptures, in more colours among our resin sculptures, and at other sizes in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
