A compact yet commanding piece, this traditional bronze tortoise fountain stands just 10cm tall and delivers the quiet spectacle of water arcing from an open mouth. The head lifts forward in a natural crawling pose, every surface alive with geometric scute patterning across the domed shell and fine scaled texture across the neck and legs. Verde antique patination runs deep across the entire casting, layered greens with dark brown undertones that give the piece the aged authority of something retrieved from a formal estate garden.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this fountain is poured in solid bronze and hand-finished by our workshop artisans before patination is applied by hand in controlled stages. The verde antique finish is not a paint or coating, it is a true chemical patina bonded to the bronze surface, developing further depth and character with outdoor exposure over time. A 2kg casting at this scale means genuine material density in the hand, with no hollow or lightweight compromise.
Designed for outdoor placement, a courtyard tabletop, a stone ledge beside a koi pond, or the rim of a raised garden bed. The wet granite setting shown in photography reflects the fountain in active use. A small submersible pump is required for operation; connection point is integrated into the casting.
Patina can be adjusted, natural brown, black, or full verde antique. Scale can be increased for a more prominent garden feature, and bespoke base options including granite or stone plinths are available. Contact us before ordering to discuss any modifications.
