This console in cast resin carries a clear slab whose whole upper surface is worked into standing ripples that run across it in bands. The edge is not cut straight: it wanders in and out like the edge of a sheet of ice, and it stays that way along both long sides. Two black plinths carry it, each cast as a rough irregular mass with the broken faces and sharp arrises of split rock. A third piece of the same black form, no bigger than a fist, stands on the slab itself, about a third of the way along, so the surface appears broken from beneath.
Two very different surfaces are asked to sit together here, and the contrast is the piece. The slab is clear and its ripples are shallow and continuous, running in bands across the full length without a repeat that the eye can pick up. Its edge is the unusual decision: it is left wandering and irregular along both long sides, thin at the extremities and never square, so the slab reads as a sheet of ice rather than as a worked top. The plinths are the opposite in every way - opaque, matt black, and broken into flat faces with sharp arrises, the geometry of split stone. The third small rock standing on the slab is what ties them: it puts the black form above the clear surface as well as below it, and the water reads as broken through.
This is a standing-height console or a serving table, not a dining table, and it needs a clear run of wall along its whole length. Both plinths must land on level floor. A hall or a long room suits the rippled top, which wants to be seen down the length of the slab rather than across it. It is very heavy and takes four people, and the slab and plinths arrive separately. Keep it indoors.
Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Three aspects can be specified. The length is quoted to whatever you need, the slab is offered tinted as well as clear, and the plinths can be finished in a grey or a warm stone tone instead of black. Whether the small rock stands on the slab is also your choice. Overall length and top thickness are quoted to your own figures. Order more than one together and the line the slab edge takes is matched across them. Crated with the thin irregular slab edge and the rock on top of it protected, it is a four-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Water held flat on black rock forms brings this console into our art furniture; the pairing of ice and stone suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a long hall or dining room our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
