Red Twisted Blade Column Resin Sculpture (158cm) in glossy red resin on a black block base, shown against a plain light grey background.
Red Twisted Blade Column Resin Sculpture - 158cm $3,37600
Description

A blade turning through its whole height, red at full strength from foot to point, on a block that lifts it clear of the floor. Red through the whole body at one strength, with no clearing anywhere and no second colour in it. A black block comes under it and is part of what is bought.

Colour Strong Enough to Read as Solid

A saturated colour at full strength is the one treatment that makes a transparent material behave like a solid, and the twist is then a shape and not a depth. Every other column in this family lets the light through and is read as a depth. This one stops it, so the twist arrives as a change of outline rather than a change of tone, and the piece behaves at a distance the way a painted steel sculpture would. Red at full strength through a twisting body means the material is at its darkest where the blade turns edge-on, so the twist reads as a change of tone before it reads as a change of shape. Polished to a gloss throughout, which is what carries the red at a distance.

Put it where a room turns a corner. A single saturated colour at this height is a destination rather than a companion. It wants a pale ground behind it. Red on a dark wall at this size closes up into a silhouette and loses the twist. Light from two sides keeps the whole height alive; a single source leaves the far face dead. It reads as a red line from the door and as a turning solid from three paces.

Another Colour Through It, and Getting It Upright

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. Another colour can be put through it, the twist can be opened, and it is made at other heights. Swap the red for a clearing colour and the twist is read from every angle at once, which is a quieter object at the same proportions. A single tall crate with the block at the foot of it, and the two are married up on site. Two people, taking an end each, and it is set down onto the block rather than slid onto it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A red blade twisting through its whole height stands in our indoor sculptures; colour at this strength puts it beside our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the red carried right through joins it to our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
