Red to Clear Hoop Arm Cast Resin Armchair - 80cm
Red to Clear Hoop Arm Cast Resin Armchair - 80cm $5,12700
Description

This open-backed armchair is made in translucent resin of a deep red that drains to clear down its legs. Two rear uprights rise to a straight top rail that oversails them at each end, so the back is a frame with nothing inside it. Below, a thick round seat sits between two arms, each a closed hoop of solid resin, and four round legs stand under it, their colour fading to nothing at the feet.

A Hooped Armchair That Fades From Red to Clear

The chair is drawn in thick round rods of cast resin, and the colour is what holds it together. At the top rail and the seat the red is deep, close to garnet where the material is thickest, and down each leg it thins steadily to a colourless foot, giving the impression that the chair stands on light. The two hoops at the sides are the boldest move: closed loops of solid resin that frame the seat and catch a bright line along every curve. The back is left open, a rail on two posts, which keeps the whole piece light to the eye despite the weight of material in it.

At 80cm to the top rail it suits a dining table or a desk as a single statement chair, or a hall where people pass it on several sides. A window or a lamp behind it lights the red and lets the clear feet glow against the floor, and on a pale floor the fade reads at its full length. It needs nothing else around it. Indoor use only.

The Hoops, the Fade and Ordering More Than One

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The depth of the red is set at order, from this deep tone to a paler ruby, and the fade down the legs can be shortened or carried right to the floor in colour. The hoops can be cast as drawn or replaced by plain straight arms for a quieter chair, and the back can carry a second rail. Chairs bought as a set are poured side by side so their colour agrees. It is crated singly, and lifting it is a job for two. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

As a chair made as sculpture it belongs with our art furniture; its fading red casting sits among our resin sculptures, and its looping hoops among our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
