Red to Black Reeded Cone Resin & Glass Table, 70cm, with glass top on orange-red and black ribbed hourglass base, on a plain white background.
Red to Black Reeded Cone Resin & Glass Table - 70cm $4,05000
Description

This round low table is topped by a plain disc of glass. Under it two cones meet point to point: the upper flares outward to carry the glass, and the other widens downward into a broad foot on the floor. Both are cut into fine close reeds running their full height, and the colour changes at the junction, the upper cone a strong orange-red and the under one nearly black. The reeding makes the two read as one turned form despite the change of tone.

Two Reeded Cones Point to Point

Two cones meeting point to point is a difficult thing to make convincing, and the reeding is what carries it. Fine close reeds run the full height of both cones at a constant pitch, so the eye follows them through the junction and reads one continuous turned form rather than two objects stacked. The colour does the opposite: a strong orange-red above and a near black below, changing exactly at the meeting point. So the piece is unified by its surface and divided by its tone at the same line, and which you notice first depends on where the light is. The glass above is plain and untinted and adds only a level plane.

It stands at coffee-table height, which suits it to a pair of low armchairs, a window seat or the end of a sofa. The red is emphatic and will set the tone of a space, so plain company suits it. The reeding reads from a seated position and the colour change from further off. The broad black foot stands firm on any level floor. Two people. Indoors.

The Cones, the Glass, and the Wait

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. It is the reeded cones that decide it. Three points are open. Both cones are tinted separately, so the two need not contrast, and the reeds can be run finer or wider apart. The glass is available smoked or in another diameter. Together the top diameter and the overall height come from you. Where the line between red and black has to agree from table to table, order them together rather than singly. With the glass top and the reeded cone rims crated clear, two people can bring it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two reeded cones meeting point to point under round glass give this low table the logic of our geometric sculptures; as a place for cups and books it sits in our art furniture, and the red-to-black split belongs with our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
