Red Single-Form Bird Cast Resin Sculpture - 30cm, a translucent red teardrop-shaped bird with no wings or feet, resting on its tail, shown on a plain white background.
Red Single-Form Bird Cast Resin Sculpture - 30cm $1,41700
Description

This cast resin sculpture of a bird has no wings, no feet and no eyes. The bird is pared to one continuous teardrop: the beak lifts from the front of the mass, the body swells behind it and the tail runs back and down until it meets the surface the piece rests on, which is what holds it up. The resin is a deep translucent red, dark where the body is thickest and bright where the tail thins out, so the colour draws the form without a single modelled feature.

A Whole Bird Pared to One Continuous Form

A form this simple has nowhere to hide. There is no detail to distract from an outline that wanders, so the profile is worked to a drawing rather than sculpted freehand, and the surface is polished to a single grade over its whole length: a dull patch on a smooth bird reads as damage. The tail is the structural part as well as the visual one, because it is the only thing touching the surface behind the point of balance, and its underside is flatted so the bird sits still rather than rocking. Colour is carried in the resin, not on it, which is why the thin tail is a lighter red than the breast.

Small and self-contained, this is a piece for a surface people pass close to rather than one they view from across a room: a windowsill where the light comes through it, a bedside, a mantel, a desk. Backlighting is what it is for - the red goes from dark to luminous the moment there is a window behind it. Two or three at slightly different angles read as a flock; one on its own reads as an object.

Colour Depth, Scale and Ordering Several

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. Colour depth is set at order, from this deep red to a pale coral, and the bird is offered in an amber, a smoke, a green or colourless. Scale is open, and the form can be made large enough to sit on a floor. The beak angle can be lifted or dropped, which changes the bird from alert to settled. Where several are ordered they are tinted in one run so the reds match. Each travels boxed and sleeved and is a one-person carry, and nothing needs assembling or fixing. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A bird pared to a single teardrop shape belongs with our bird sculptures; a form with no wings or feet leads to our organic sculptures, and red that glows when backlit joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
