Red Ribboned Clear Splash Resin Sculpture - 77cm with rust-red ribbons through clear resin spray arms on a marble base, shown against a plain white background.
Red Ribboned Clear Splash Resin Sculpture - 77cm $2,71100
Description

Rust red is drawn through the clear water of this cast resin splash in ribbons rather than a wash, gathering at the foot and running out along some arms and not others. A tall spout rises from the centre with a bead at its tip, a forked arm lifts on one side, two slender arms reach far out on a diagonal on the other, and long low arms spread to both sides over a pale marble block. The ribbons keep their edges: they are read as separate strands inside the body and not as a stain in it, and where two of them cross there is a darker knot. Several of the arms carry no colour at all, which is what makes the ones that do look as though the colour arrived rather than was applied.

Red Drawn Through Like Ink in Water

The point of the piece is the difference between a ribbon and a wash. A red spread evenly through the resin would tint the whole splash and flatten it; drawn instead as separate strands, it leaves the water clear around it and reads as colour caught in motion. Here the strands gather densest at the foot, run out to the tip of the long low arm on one side and into the root of a diagonal arm, and send a thin thread up the forked arm, while the tall central spout and most of the far side stay colourless. That uneven reach is the character of the piece, and no two are coloured in quite the same way.

The ribbons are read through the thickness, so it needs to be seen from the side with a lamp set beyond it rather than in front of it. Lit from the front the body goes to a flat red and the strands close up into one another. With a window or a lamp off to one side the colour separates into the strands it actually is, and the colourless arms go almost invisible beside them. It is wide and fairly low, so a sideboard or a long table suits it better than a narrow shelf, and it is best come at from whichever side carries the lamp rather than from behind.

Ribbons and Not a Wash, and Delivery

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The red can be deepened, softened towards a brown or exchanged for a black or an amber, and the splash can be made with no colour at all; the spread of its arms is drawn to order. How much of the piece the colour reaches is set at order within what the material allows, and the marble comes in this pale stone or a dark one. It ships in a single case laid flat, faced across the width with the marble boxed beside it, and it is lifted by the body of the casting and never by an arm. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Rust red ribbons drawn through a clear splash above pale marble give this piece its place among our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
