Red Horizontal Splash Cast Resin Sculpture - 120cm $3,94200
Description

This cast resin sculpture is a red splash that travels along its marble plate rather than rising off it: at its peak it stands barely a third of its own length. At its foot the red rolls into a loop holding a tall clear droplet. To one side it thins into a long ribbon tipped with a bead; to the other it flares into a broad, folded sheet that ends in hanging drips. A thin clear ribbon winds through the loop and out beneath the sheet to a hooked tip, and like the droplet it is left untinted, so both read as separate water.

Thrown Flat Instead of Upward

This splash is drawn travelling rather than rising. Its weight is gathered low, in the loop at the foot, and from there the water is thrown sideways in both directions at once, a thin ribbon one way and a broad sheet the other, so the piece reads as one movement caught as it crosses the plate. The two ends are kept unlike each other: the ribbon thins to a single bead, the sheet folds over itself and breaks into drips, and the eye travels from one to the other through the loop. The clear droplet and the clear ribbon run inside that red movement as a second, quieter line of water.

It needs a run of surface longer than itself, so nothing crowds either end. A long console, a sideboard, a dining-room credenza or an island top all suit it; a mantel usually does not, because the ends overhang and the throw stops reading. It should be seen from the front and from a low angle rather than looked down on, since from above a horizontal splash flattens into a line. Light from one end rakes along the throw and lifts the red; light from directly above puts the whole piece in its own shadow.

One Continuous Throw, and Delivery

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The span is cut to the surface it is going on, and the droplet can be left out. The tint runs from this red through amber, a smoke grey and a clear, and the marble plate is made to match the span exactly or cut back so the ends float. It arrives in one long braced crate with the splash faced along its whole length and the plate packed beneath it, and it is set together on site by levelling the plate and lowering the splash onto it in one lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A splash thrown out flat instead of upward is organic sculpture turned on its side, resin sculpture in substance, and a dining-room piece, which is indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
