Red Hanging Fighting Fish Resin Sculpture, 120cm, translucent red fins with ridged texture, suspended by wires against a plain white background.
Red Hanging Fighting Fish Resin Sculpture - 120cm $3,91500
Description

This resin sculpture is a fighting fish made to hang rather than stand. The body is short and deep with the scales cut over it in overlapping rows, and everything behind it is fin: the tail and the anal fin are drawn out into long sheets combed with parallel ridges, and the dorsal stands up in a second sheet above. The resin is a saturated translucent red throughout, deepest where the body is thickest and brightest at the fin edges.

Fins Combed Into Long Thin Sheets

A fin sheet that runs the length of a body is worked from the ridges outward. Each ridge is a continuous line from the root to the edge and none of them may cross, so they are set out at the root first, where they are closest together, and then followed out; a ridge picked up again halfway shows as a step under a raking light. The scales are the other field. They cover a body that swells in two directions, so a row even along the back arrives wrong at the belly unless the spacing is reset wherever the curve changes, and the whole field is cut at one depth so that no scale reads as a blemish among the rest.

This is made to hang and it needs room to turn: over a stair well, in a double-height space, in a window, above a table where it is seen from below. Hang it where light can come through the fins, which is where the red is at its best; against a solid ceiling with light from above it reads as a dark shape. It wants a fixing into a joist rather than a plasterboard anchor, and enough line that it hangs clear of the wall and turns slowly.

Colour, Fixing and Getting It Home

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. The fish is made in this red, in a green or in an amber, or as a colourless body, and a solid opaque fish is made where it should read against the light as a shape only. Fin spread is open, with the sheets drawn in towards the body for a calmer outline, and the fish can be mounted on a stand where hanging is not wanted. It can be made at other lengths, up to one that fills a stair well. It arrives in a fitted crate with each fin sheet packed against a shaped former and the lines coiled separately; take the weight under the body and never by a fin. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A long red fish suspended from the ceiling belongs with our animal sculptures; fins drawn into long combed sheets lead to our organic sculptures, and red at its brightest at the fin edges joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
