Saturated translucent red and solid all the way through rather than hollow, this cast resin column carries three narrow bands turned into it just below the cap. On the cap sits a lion of the same material, square on its haunches with the mane in curls and one forepaw resting on a ball. The red reads deepest at the centre of each face and brightest along the four vertical edges, which stand out as light lines the whole height of the piece.
A solid shaft does something to colour that a hollow one cannot. Through a section this thick the red at the middle of a face is several times deeper than the red at its edge, and that difference is the whole effect. That is the effect the piece is for, and it means the section cannot be cut back anywhere without the colour going with it. The bands are the exacting passage. They are turned into the shaft rather than applied, and each has to run true right round four faces and meet itself at the corner, where any wander shows against the arris. The lion is worked separately and seated last, and its colour is matched to the shaft with both parts finished.
At a hundred and thirty-three the shaft is a floor piece and the lion arrives at about eye level, which is where it wants to be. A hallway, a stair foot, an alcove or either side of an opening all suit it, and it needs a level floor. Two of them facing each other is the traditional arrangement and the price here covers one column. The colour wants light behind it rather than above it, so a window across the hall does more for it than a downlight, which finds the cap and leaves the shaft flat.
Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The shaft is made in this red, in an amber, in a green, or with no colour in it at all, and the shaft can be made hollow where the weight of a solid section is not wanted. The animal on the cap is made as this lion, as a plain sphere, or left off for a bare capped column, and the bands can be turned deeper or omitted. Other heights can be cut to order. It ships upright in a fitted crate with the lion packed apart and seated by hand on site; take the shaft by the body and never by the cap or the animal. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A solid red shaft beneath a curly-maned lion belongs with our lion statues; three turned bands below the cap lead to our classic sculptures, and a solid shaft glowing red joins our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
