Red & Orange Twisted Saddle Resin Sculpture, 36cm, glossy wave-like form tapering to fine points, on a black rectangular base, plain white background.
Red & Orange Twisted Saddle Resin Sculpture - 36cm $1,68600
Description

A sheet of red resin given one turn along its length, drawn out to a fine point at one end and twisting over at the other into a broad, scooped tip, so the surface between them is a saddle rather than a curve in one direction. Scarlet holds across the middle of the sheet where the material is deepest and clears to orange out at both drawn-out tips. Under its lowest point, a squat black marble block raises it clear of the surface, and the block is part of the order.

A Gloss Deep Enough to Return a Window

A piece this size is read from close, and that changes what the surface has to do. A polish deep enough to return a window is what makes a piece this size worth picking up, so the faces are worked to a full gloss rather than left frosted. The consequence is that the form is described by reflections instead of by shading: the point, the crest and the scooped tip each return a different part of the room, and the turn becomes visible as the moment those reflections change over. On a matt surface the same geometry would read almost flat.

Desk, shelf and side table all suit it, and it is meant to be handled as much as looked at. It needs one strong source close by rather than an even wash, because the whole effect depends on having something bright enough for the gloss to return. An unfigured surface underneath works better than a patterned one, which competes with the reflections instead of feeding them. Set square to a shelf the twist is almost invisible; turned through thirty degrees it shows the point and the scooped tip together, and that is the position it is built for.

The Turn, the Scarlet, and Delivery

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The scarlet can be carried further out along the twist, the point drawn finer, and the block cut in other stones. The twist is cast at any span on the same section, and the block follows it, though at a much greater span the sheet reads as a different object rather than the same one enlarged. The stone is the simplest thing to change and the one that alters the piece most, since a pale block turns the scarlet towards pink. It travels in one box with the block packed separately. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A scarlet sheet with a single turn, glossed until it returns a window, joins our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
