Red & Amber Looping Knot Resin Sculpture, 40cm, a continuous looped form shifting from red through amber to clear, resting on a black block base against a plain white background.
Red & Amber Looping Knot Resin Sculpture - 40cm $1,48400
Description

A single length carried back through itself and closed, meeting the stone at one point and arching well clear of it everywhere else. Red at the foot running up through amber and clearing to colourless in the top loop. A small block of black stone comes under it. Every turn of it is rounded, with no edge anywhere along its length.

Somewhere for the Eye to Start

A closed loop has no beginning, so a colour run is the only thing that gives the eye a place to start and a direction to follow. A closed loop is the one form with no beginning and no end, so there is nothing in the shape itself to tell a viewer where to look first. The colour run does that job, and it is the only thing on the piece that does. Running a colour out along a loop means the material is deepest where the form is closest to the stone, so the piece looks as though the colour is draining downward out of it. Polished inside every curve as well as outside, which on a closed loop is most of the surface.

It suits a writing desk, a night stand or a run of books, and asks for very little room. Whatever is behind it should be pale, because the clearing at the top has to be read against something. Light from one side rims the outside of every curve and leaves the inside of them dark. The loop shows a different figure from every angle and none of them is the whole of it.

Reversing the Run, and One Crate

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. The loop can be opened out, the red can be set at the top instead of the foot, and other heights are available. Reverse the run and the colour gathers at the top, so the loop is remade to carry weight where it currently carries none. One crate with the stone packed under it, and it is unpacked and placed in a minute. One person and both hands, taking it by the stone. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A red, amber and clear knot with no loose end belongs to our organic sculptures; the colour run through its single length joins our resin sculptures, and a small surface in a quiet corner suits the scale of our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
