Red & Amber Flame Form Cast Resin Sculpture, 58cm, with flame-like curving points on a black rectangular base, set against a plain white background.
Red & Amber Flame Form Cast Resin Sculpture - 58cm $3,60200
Description

Red runs into amber through this cast resin sculpture until it reads as flame rather than water. On one side a cluster of pointed tongues leaps upward, one of them curving over towards the centre; on the other a broad mass sweeps up and rolls over, its points trailing downward like flames bent by a draught. Red at the base going to amber at the tips reverses the way water is coloured, where the depth is dark and the crest is clear, and the eye reads the reversal as heat. It stands on a flat black slab.

Where It Stops Being Water

Two colours that meet inside a body are a different problem from two colours that meet at a surface. On a painted or plated object the boundary is on the outside and can be moved, masked or gone over. Here it sits in the middle of the material and is looked at through several centimetres of red on one side and amber on the other, so it is visible from every angle at once and there is no face of the piece from which it is hidden. That also means the boundary is doing the work of making this read as flame: too high in the body and the piece looks like a wave with a warm crest, too low and the amber becomes a rim. It sits where the form starts to turn, which is where a flame's own colour changes.

It wants a cool ground, a pale wall or a grey stone, because against wood or brick it stops reading as flame. Warm surroundings put the red and the amber into the same family as everything around them and the piece becomes decorative rather than hot. Against grey, off-white or a cool stone the contrast does the opposite and the colour lifts. Its place is a broad surface rather than the floor, and it spreads as deep as it is wide, so that surface has to be wider than the piece by a clear margin on every side. It reads best at or slightly below eye level, looked into rather than down on.

A Boundary Inside the Material, and Delivery

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The red and the amber meet inside the material rather than at a surface, and where that change falls is chosen before the piece is made. The form can be made in a blue that reads as water again, and the boundary can be set near the foot or near the crest instead of at the middle. The plan dimension is drawn to order, and the black slab it stands on, which comes with it, can be finished in a paler tone. It travels in a foam-lined case laid on its back; lift it by the solid mass at the foot, never by a tongue, and set it down on its slab. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Red resin climbing into amber until the water reads as flame is placed with our resin sculptures, our abstract sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
