Purple Graded Open Box Acrylic Display Plinth - 110cm
Purple Graded Open Box Acrylic Display Plinth - 110cm $3,23800
Description

This display plinth is a tall box open at the front, and the whole of it is one graded colour: almost black along the top, opening through a deep purple down the body, and arriving at a clear pink where it meets the floor. A top plate takes whatever is displayed on it, and inside, a floor panel set just above the ground catches the palest of the pink, so the open face reads as a frame graded from dark to light.

Almost Black at the Top, Clear Pink at the Floor

Running one grade down the full height means the sheet has to be cut in the right place and the right way up, and there is no second attempt: cut a panel from too far up the run and its top will not match its neighbour's. So the four panels are cut in sequence from one length of stock and kept in order, and the corners are the test - a grade that steps at a corner announces itself down the full height. The dark end is also the harder end to finish, because a near-black acrylic shows a polishing swirl that a pale one hides, so the top of every panel is worked longer than the rest of it.

At 110cm this puts a piece above standing eye level, which suits an entrance, a landing or the corner of a gallery where one object is meant to hold attention. The dark top edge frames whatever stands on it, so a pale object reads strongly and a dark one is lost - that is worth matching before ordering. Keep the wall behind plain. The pale foot needs light reaching floor level to read at all, so avoid pushing it into an unlit corner.

Grade Direction, Plan Size and Flat Delivery

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The grade can be reversed to put the dark end at the floor, run corner to corner rather than top to bottom, or replaced by an even tint. Other colour pairs are drawn from the same stock. Plan size and height are both cut to order, and the open front can be closed with a fifth panel for a solid column. Delivery is flat: four panels and a top, numbered as they are cut and bonded on arrival in that order, which is what keeps the grade continuous round the corners. Two people are wanted for the assembly. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A grade that runs dark to pale pink belongs with our acrylic sculptures; a tall box left open on one face points to our geometric sculptures, and a dark-topped plinth for a reception room joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
