Orange Graded Scalloped Oval Acrylic Console - 180cm $12,62300
Description

The top of this console is an oval, and its edge is cut into scallops that run without a break all the way round it, so there is no straight line anywhere on the piece. Two broad slab legs carry it, each curved in plan like a fold of ribbon and standing upright. Nothing here is left clear. The whole piece is frosted, and the colour is graded through the height: a pale amber where the top is, a strong orange where the legs meet the floor.

An Oval Top Scalloped the Whole Way Round

Scallops round an oval are not all the same, which is what makes them difficult: the curvature of the edge changes constantly between the ends and the sides, so a scallop cut to one radius reads crowded at the ends and stretched along the flanks. The pitch is therefore set out from the oval itself and each scallop is cut to suit where it sits. The frost is through the acrylic and not a coating over it, since a sprayed frost would wear off the scallop edges first, and the tint goes in with the pour, so the colour follows the height of the piece and not the thickness of any one part of it.

A frosted console throws no reflection, so it sits under a mirror or a run of pictures without competing with them, and the scalloped edge reads as a soft line rather than a hard one against a wall. At this length it needs a wall to itself: an entrance, or a dining room's long side. The orange gathers at the floor, so a pale floor lifts it and a dark one absorbs it, which is worth knowing before choosing a room.

Scallop Pitch, Grade Direction and Getting It In

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Scallop pitch is set at order and can be opened out to a broad wave or closed to a fine one, and a plain oval edge is offered. Grade direction is open in both senses, so the orange can gather at the top instead of the floor, and the colour is available as a rose, a green or a smoke. The frost can be dropped for a clear console. Length and depth are cut to order. Top and legs travel separately, the top flat in a crate and the legs boxed, and the three parts bolt together under the top; the top is a three-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Scallops running unbroken round an oval belong with our acrylic sculptures; a frost carried through amber into orange leads to our organic sculptures, and a console that throws no reflection under a mirror joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
