Orange Graded Quilted Cast Resin Dining Chair, 80cm, with dimpled texture fading from clear at the top to deep orange at the base, shown on a plain white background.
Orange Graded Quilted Cast Resin Dining Chair - 80cm $5,12900
Description

This cast resin dining chair is worked over its entire surface into a fine dimpled quilting, back and seat and sides alike, and its sides drop to the floor as solid panels with an arch cut through the front of each. The colour is almost absent at the top of the back and reaches a strong orange at the foot, so the chair reads pale where it is seen and deep where it meets the floor.

Fine Dimpled Quilting Over Every Face

The quilting is worked into both mould faces so it carries through the back, the seat and the outer panels at the same pitch, and holding one pitch across three surfaces that meet at angles is the difficult part: a dimple that stretches at a corner shows immediately. The arches in the side panels are opened in the mould, which keeps the quilting running round their edges. The colour is graded from the crest down while the material is live. Every surface is polished afterwards, and the panel bottoms are faced flat and brought to one plane so a dining chair sits square on a hard floor with a person in it.

At 80cm to the top of the back this is a dining chair, and the solid side panels mean it does not tuck under a table as far as a four-legged chair would, so allow for that when counting places. The quilting is read from close up and the graduation from across the room, so the chair works at both distances. It suits a table with an open base rather than one with its own panels.

The Quilting, the Arched Sides, and Ordering a Set

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The dimpled skin is the slow part. There are three decisions. The graduation can be reversed, a single tint is available throughout, and the arches in the side panels can be left out. You name the back width and the back height. Specify the whole group at once and the pitch of the quilting is held through it. The crate is built around the arched sides and the quilted back, and two people should carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Quilting dimpled over every face gives our art furniture a dining chair; its arched sides suit our organic sculptures, the orange grade our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
