Orange Faceted Figure of Eight Resin Sculpture, 80cm, amber cast resin in a figure-eight form with a rounded loop and faceted lobe, on a plain white background.
Orange Faceted Figure of Eight Resin Sculpture - 80cm $3,10900
Description

A figure-of-eight of cast amber resin lying on its side. From the crossing the band runs out into two lobes of unlike size and character: one rises into a tall loop, smoothly rounded and open at its centre, while the other lies low and long, folded into flat planes that meet at crisp edges. Amber is banked deep at the crossing and clears to a pale golden honey at the crown of the round loop and inside the folded one. No stand is supplied, and the piece lies on the outer faces of its two lobes.

Every Plane Stops at Its Own Edge

Setting a rounded loop against a faceted one changes what happens at the crossing. The round loop returns long, continuous highlights that run with the curve of the band, while the other lobe is cut into flats, so every plane there returns its own highlight and stops at its own edge. The crossing is where those two ways of handling light meet, which makes it the place where the most changes happen rather than the fewest. The amber is banked exactly there for the same reason, deepest where the band passes over itself and clearing to honey towards the crown of the loop.

Give it a long run with space either side; depth behind it does nothing for a piece that lies down. One strong source beats an even wash here: every facet returns its own highlight, and a flat light runs them together. A dark surface beneath deepens the crossing. With one lobe rounded and the other faceted, the crossing is where the most changes happen, and turning the piece a few degrees moves every highlight on it at once.

Lengths, the Facets and Delivery

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The facets are cut broader or finer, the amber is pushed to a colder brown, and the two lobes are cast at matching sizes. Other lengths are made, with the facets set out afresh for each one. Rounding the folded lobe to match the loop makes a calmer and far more conventional object, and the amber then has to carry the crossing on its own. The packing goes inside both lobes rather than around the outside, and two people are wanted to lift it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A smooth amber loop that crosses into a lobe of hard-edged planes is one for our indoor sculptures, our contemporary and modern sculptures and our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
