Orange & Cream Faceted Ovoid Resin Sculpture, 150cm, amber-to-cream tapered form on a tall black stand, set against a plain light grey background.
Orange & Cream Faceted Ovoid Resin Sculpture - 150cm $6,14200
Description

A smooth ovoid tapering to the crown, with flat planes crossing one another inside the body. Amber at the foot clearing to cream at the crown, with the faceted planes catching paler than the body. A tall, square black stand is included, lifting the ovoid well clear of the floor. Seen from the side, the planes shift against one another, so the ovoid never shows the same pattern twice.

Planes Drawn Under an Unbroken Surface

The outside of this piece is one continuous curve and every edge on it is underneath that curve. It is not an easy thing to get right: the planes have to be placed while the body is open and the surface closed over them afterwards without moving anything, so the arrangement is decided once. Planes drawn inside a tinted body rather than cut on its surface is the whole of this one: the outside is a smooth ovoid and every edge you can see is under it. The outer surface is polished and left unbroken, with the planes worked before it closes.

It wants a corner, and the stand puts the ovoid at about standing height. A dark wall behind it, so the cream crown has something to be pale against. Light from one side at the height of the ovoid; the planes take it and the stand stays quiet. At a distance it is one warm shape; the planes open up only close to.

Another Height of Stand, and Two Crates on a Pallet

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. If you would rather the stand at another height, it is cut before anything else is made, and the amber can be exchanged. Cut the stand differently and the ovoid is redrawn for it, because the two are drawn around a standing eye. Two crates on one pallet, the stand and the ovoid apart, joined on site. Three people and a trolley, and the stand goes down first. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An amber ovoid with planes drawn through its depth belongs to our organic sculptures; the graded casting sits among our resin sculptures, and more to light up a quiet corner is in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
