Olive Embedded Leaf Dome Resin Sculpture - 25cm, a translucent olive-toned dome with a green leaf suspended at its centre, shown on a plain white background.
Olive Embedded Leaf Dome Resin Sculpture - 25cm $1,82200
Description

A low dome cast in a translucent olive that deepens toward its underside, with a single green leaf standing upright at the centre. The leaf is held clear of the floor of the casting so the material surrounds it completely, and the dome is polished over its whole curve. It sits flat on its own underside and no stand is included.

The Dome Is a Lens and the Leaf Is Its Subject

A dome over a specimen is a lens with a subject at its focus, and that is the only reason to put a leaf in a dome rather than in a block. The curve magnifies, so the leaf reads at more than its own size, and because the curve is continuous the magnification changes as you move around it: the leaf swells, narrows and swings across the centre while the dome itself sits still. Holding the specimen upright is the hard part. It has to be fixed before the material is poured and it has to stay fixed while the level rises around it, since anything that shifts by a degree comes out leaning and cannot be corrected afterwards.

It is small and it is looked into rather than at, which makes it a desk, a side table or a shelf at hand height. Anywhere it can only be seen from across a room wastes it entirely. The olive is deep enough that it needs light from above or from close beside to reach the leaf; in a dim corner the dome goes almost black and the specimen disappears. At 25cm it sits flat on its own underside and will not slide.

The Specimen, the Tint, and Delivery

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The tint is lightened or taken toward brown, the dome is cast shallower so the magnification drops, and it is made at other diameters. A colourless body is offered and shows the leaf far more plainly, though the olive is what gives the specimen a ground to sit against. The dome is also made without any specimen at all. It is sent in one box seated in a shaped bed so the polished curve touches nothing, and one hand lifts it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

One leaf kept at the centre of a dome is organic sculpture; the olive body is resin sculpture; and a piece read close up is indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
