Olive Crazed Web Boat Vessel Resin Sculpture, 70cm, with crackled pearl and olive-gold finish on a brushed stainless steel arch stand, plain white background.
Olive Crazed Web Boat Vessel Resin Sculpture - 70cm $2,23800
Description

A long, shallow boat of a vessel, tapering to a point at both ends and open along its whole length. Its wall is crazed all over with a raised web, olive lines drawn over a pearl ground, deepening to an olive-gold along the keel and browner where it reaches the rim. It rides on two short posts rising from a slender, brushed stainless steel arch, which comes with it.

A Pattern That Does Not Take Over

A vessel whose whole wall is a drawn pattern has to decide whether the pattern or the form is the subject, and this one decides for the form. The arch beneath meets the vessel only through two short posts, so it appears to rest on almost nothing, and the shallow curve of the steel answers the curve of the resin above it. The crazed web is formed in the resin, so the pattern survives being looked at closely instead of falling apart. The web stands in low relief, each cell of the crazing domed and glossy, so the pattern catches the light right across the wall.

A long sideboard suits it, or a console with the length to take the whole of the arch. Set against a plain wall the web reads; against tiling or a splashback it does not. Light from above prints the crazed web onto whatever is under the vessel. It reads as a long shallow curve from the door, and the web arrives at the table.

Web, Finish and Getting It Home

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The web is drawn finer, the olive is taken toward blue, and the arch is made in a dark finish. Draw the web finer and the crazing multiplies across the wall, so it reads as an even texture from further away and as a drawing only close to. Arch and vessel are packed apart, and the vessel is always taken up by its hull, a hand beneath either end, never by the rim or by the posts. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pale crazed boat raised on two slim posts above its arch keeps company with our stainless steel sculptures, our organic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
