Multicoloured Swirled Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture (57cm) by Giant Sculptures, a looping pierced form shifting from yellow-green and teal to magenta and deep blue, on a black marble base against a plain grey background.
Multicoloured Swirled Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture - 57cm $1,88900
Description

This scholar's rock in swirled resin is mounted on a block of black marble, which is included. It is a looping pierced mass rather than a solid one, with two large openings, an upper ring and a smaller one at the foot, and two lesser openings between them. The colour travels as it climbs: yellow-green and teal at the crown, magenta and purple through the waist, deep blue where it meets the marble.

Two Openings and a Colour Change at the Waist

The form doubles back on itself. Two arms leave the base, cross at about half height and close over to make the upper ring, and the crossing, the narrowest point anywhere on it, is what gives the piece its sense of movement. The surface is polished to a full gloss, so the colours behave like enamel rather than like stone, and the boundaries between them are soft: green runs into teal over several centimetres, then a hard-edged magenta cuts across the waist, which is the one abrupt change in the piece. Colour is worked into the body rather than applied to the face, so it holds on the rim of every opening as well as on the flat. No two are swirled alike, and the waist colour in particular lands differently every time.

At 57cm on its block it suits a reception desk, a sideboard or a wide shelf rather than the floor, and the marble block means it needs no mat or pad under it. It has two things worth showing: the profile, which needs a plain wall behind it, and the openings, which need something to see through them, so it does better with clear space around it than pushed into a group of objects. Turned a quarter, it becomes a different silhouette, so a spot approached from two directions suits it. Indoor use only.

Swirl Route, Block Size and the Colours Named at Order

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The palette is what gets specified. This one runs a full spread of six colours, and it is also made in two or three, which reads much calmer and lets one colour own the waist; the sequence from crown to foot is set at order, so the deep tone can sit at the top instead. The marble block is a shallow one in black as standard; white or grey is available, and a deeper block lifts the piece on a low surface. The form is fixed: the arms and the two large openings are what this model is, and the piece is not made without the crossing. Because the colour is worked wet, a request to copy an existing piece exactly cannot be met, and the studio will say so at order rather than after. It ships with the block already fitted, boxed with the openings packed out, and one person can handle it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A rock swirled from yellow-green to deep blue belongs with our abstract sculptures; a looping mass pierced four times joins our organic sculptures, and colour carried through its polished body puts it with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
