This resin sculpture is a tortoise from the shoulders back and a dragon from the shoulders forward. The shell is domed and cut into hexagonal plates, the tail rises in a plume of separate curls, and the head carries horns, whiskers and an open mouth with the teeth showing. The colour runs the length of the animal: a cold blue at the tail, violet across the shell, then yellow and a deep amber through the head and the front claws. At 14cm from end to end it sits in the palm of a hand.
A grade that runs through four colours over that depth has very little room to make the changes in, and the changes cannot be allowed to land on a feature: a boundary that falls across the eye or along the edge of the shell reads as a fault in the casting rather than as a grade. The colours are therefore set against the animal's own divisions, so each change happens where the form already changes. The shell is the other exacting passage. Its plates are cut over a dome, which means no two of them are the same shape and each one has to be set out from its neighbours rather than from a template, and at this size the whole field is worked with one point under magnification.
This is a desk and cabinet piece, and it is small enough to be picked up, which is part of the point. Put it where it is met at close range: a desk, a bookshelf at eye level, the top of a low cabinet beside a chair. It wants light from in front rather than behind, because the colour is in the body and a strong backlight washes the middle of the grade out. On a white surface the blue end reads coldest; on timber the amber head warms further and the two ends of the animal separate.
Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The grade is settled at order and can be run the other way round, held to two colours, or dropped altogether for a single-colour animal. A clear body with gold leaf through it is offered as an alternative to the plating. The design can be cut at other sizes, up to a floor piece, and the tail plume can be brought closer to the shell where a quieter outline is wanted. It arrives boxed with the tail and the horns supported and nothing to assemble; take it under the shell rather than by the head. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A dragon-headed tortoise belongs with our classic sculptures; a piece small enough for one hand leads to our indoor sculptures, and colour graded from blue to amber joins our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
