Monumental Traditional Chinese Guardian Lion Bronze Sculpture by Giant Sculptures, front view of the seated Fu Dog with paw on a lattice orb, dark patina.
Monumental Traditional Chinese Guardian Lion Bronze Sculpture - 300cm $133,20500
Description

The Monumental Traditional Chinese Guardian Lion Bronze Sculpture stands three metres tall and weighs close to a tonne, commanding immediate authority in any space that receives it. Rendered in the classic male Fu Dog pose, the figure is seated upright with its right forepaw pressed firmly onto a carved lattice orb, mouth open wide to reveal prominent fangs, and mane coiled in the tight spiral curls of traditional Chinese guardian iconography.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished with Deep Patina

This sculpture is cast using the lost-wax process, which allows the craftspeople to preserve every carved surface detail: the relief floral and figurative motifs on the ornate collar, the pendant bell at its centre, the lattice-work of the decorative orb, and the individually defined spiral curls of the mane. The result is a large bronze guardian lion statue with a dark bronze body finished in a deep grey-green patina that pools naturally into the recessed detail, accentuating the contrast between smooth body surfaces and the richly textured collar, mane, and ball. As an outdoor bronze Fu Dog sculpture at this scale, the patina will continue to develop a warm, living character with exposure to the elements over time.

At 300cm in height, this piece is suited to grand architectural settings: estate entrance gates, formal garden axes, commercial atria, hotel lobbies, and heritage properties where scale is not a constraint but an expectation. The pale stone plinth beneath the figure grounds it visually and provides a traditional presentation consistent with classical Chinese guardian lion placement. The rich dark tones sit well against pale limestone, rendered brick, polished concrete, and mature planting.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

The patina on this sculpture can be specified to order: warm brown, classic verdigris, jet black, or a polished natural bronze finish. Scale variants are available, and we regularly produce paired guardian lion commissions for symmetrical installations. If you are considering this piece for a specific architectural project or require a site survey consultation, contact us before ordering and we will arrange a tailored proposal. The original design takes inspiration from the work of traditional Chinese bronze artisans working in the Qing and Ming dynasty guardian lion tradition.
