Monumental Contemporary Hippopotamus Ballerina Bronze Sculpture by Giant Sculptures, front view with black patina, gold corset, grey pleated tutu on plain background.
Monumental Contemporary Hippopotamus Ballerina Bronze Sculpture - 350cm $150,64200
Description

The Monumental Contemporary Hippopotamus Ballerina Bronze Sculpture stands at a commanding 350cm, presenting an anthropomorphic hippopotamus in full ballerina attire: a sculpted corset bodice, a pleated tutu skirt with precise fabric-fold rendering, and gold-toned shoes. The piece occupies space with quiet authority, its humour and scale existing in complete harmony.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished in Three Tones

Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this sculpture carries three distinct surface treatments across a single form. The body holds a smooth black-toned patina, its depth achieved through controlled acid application and hand-buffing. The corset, collar trim, button details, and shoe soles carry a warm gold metallic finish, applied by hand to each individual decorative element. The pleated tutu skirt is finished in a light grey-silver tone, giving the fabric folds a crisp, fabric-like legibility in natural light. The result is a piece with the visual complexity of a painted sculpture and the permanence of solid cast bronze.

At 350cm and 1,000kg, this work is scaled for landmark placement. It performs equally well in covered civic atria, luxury hotel lobbies, and open urban plazas. The three-tone palette reads well against glazed facades, pale stone, and dark polished flooring. The flat low-profile plinth integrates cleanly with plaza paving or interior floor surfaces without requiring a raised plinth surround.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

We offer a full range of patina options, from natural verde antique through to custom polished or painted finishes. The scale can be adjusted to suit your specific installation envelope. For clients seeking a unique commission, the character and pose of this piece can be developed further, or a related figure conceived from the same design language. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements in full.

Delivery to Your Address

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
