The Monumental Contemporary Fragmented Head Bronze Sculpture stands at an imposing 250cm, presented horizontally on its granite plinth as a disembodied form of extraordinary presence. Hollow eye sockets open into void, and a segmented, layered surface breaks the face into ridge and plane, evoking both ancient mask and radical abstraction.
Cast in solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax method, this piece carries the full weight and authority of monumental public sculpture. Each large abstract bronze head is individually finished by hand, with surface texture worked to express fragmentation and depth across every contoured plane. The dark brown to near-black patina deepens the sense of age and gravitas, shifting in natural light from warm amber at the ridges to near-black in the recessed segments. The result is a surface that reads as both weathered relic and considered contemporary artwork.
At this scale, the sculpture commands institutional and architectural settings: a civic plaza, a grand entrance hall, a formal garden terrace, or a cultural venue forecourt. The horizontal orientation and low-profile granite base anchor the composition to the ground plane, drawing the eye inward rather than upward. The neutral granite tones and dark bronze palette sit cleanly against limestone, slate, pale concrete, or dark hardwood surroundings. Suited equally to indoor and outdoor placement, it is built to perform in all climates without loss of surface quality.
We offer a range of patina finishes, from the existing dark aged bronze to verde, mid-brown, or polished highlights. Scale can be adjusted to suit your specific site, and the granite plinth can be specified to different dimensions or stone grades. This sculpture has also been commissioned for public and commercial installations, and we welcome detailed briefs. Inspired by the work of Igor Mitoraj, the formal language of the fragmented face translates powerfully across a range of scales and contexts. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.
