Monumental Classical Recumbent Lion Bronze Sculpture by Giant Sculptures, shown in profile with head turned, flowing mane and dark patina on a plain background.
Monumental Classical Recumbent Lion Bronze Sculpture (Head Turned) - 190cm $125,84600
Description

The Monumental Classical Recumbent Lion Bronze Sculpture stands 190cm in length, presenting a lion at full architectural scale: body stretched horizontal, forepaws extended, head raised and turned with quiet authority. The composition commands space without aggression, conveying the composed power of a guardian at rest.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished

Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, every plane of this large recumbent lion bronze is worked by hand after casting. The surface carries a deep black-brown patina with high reflectivity on the raised contours of the mane, brow, and forelimbs, a finish achieved through layered chemical patination and selective hand-polishing. The mane is rendered with flowing carved texture; the musculature across the shoulders, haunches, and paws is anatomically precise, with fur detailing that rewards close inspection. At 3,400 kg, the casting density reflects the substantial wall thickness demanded by this monumental bronze lion statue format.

The piece suits formal entrance settings, grand hall interiors, estate driveways, and institutional courtyards. Its dark bronze tones work against pale stone, rendered masonry, and dark hardwood alike. The patina reads as both warm and severe depending on the quality of ambient light, making it equally suited to daylight courtyards and interior spaces with directional artificial lighting. Placement on a broad stone plinth of matching architectural character, as shown, elevates the guardian presence of the work considerably.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

Patina options include the deep black-brown finish shown, a mid-tone verde green, a warm golden-brown, and a raw polished bronze. Scale can be adjusted to suit your specific installation context. For pairs, mirror compositions, or site-specific plinths, we welcome bespoke commissions. Contact us before ordering to discuss scale, finish, and installation requirements for a piece of this magnitude.
