The Monumental Classical Recumbent Lion Bronze Sculpture stands 200cm tall and commands presence on a scale that few pieces can match. Cast in the traditional guardian pose, the lion rests with front paws extended, head held upright and alert, its full flowing mane rendered in rich sculpted detail that catches light across every ridge and curl.
This sculpture is produced using the lost-wax casting method, one of the oldest and most exacting techniques in bronze production. Each piece begins as a hand-modelled original, from which a ceramic shell mould is formed before molten bronze is poured to capture every surface detail. The result here is a dark antique bronze finish with deep black patina pooling in the recesses and silver-grey highlights lifting the raised surfaces of the mane, brow, and paws. The contrast is precise and deliberate, lending the piece the authority of a museum-grade classical work. The sculpture is mounted on a large flat rectangular granite plinth in polished light grey, which grounds the composition and adds a clean architectural note.
At 200cm and 850kg, this is a piece that defines a space rather than fills it. It suits grand entrance halls, formal stairwells, estate driveways, corporate atria, and open landscaped grounds equally. The dark bronze reads powerfully against pale stone, rendered masonry, and clipped formal hedging. It performs as well under interior lighting as it does in full natural daylight. The granite plinth transitions cleanly into both outdoor paving and interior flooring without adaptation.
We offer the full range of bronze patinas across our production, from warm golden brown and verde antique through to the deep black finish shown here. Scale can be adjusted to suit your specific site requirements, from a reduced garden version to a truly monumental installation. If you have a specific commission in mind, including bespoke bases, paired compositions, or a finish inspired by the work of a particular classical tradition, please contact us before ordering so we can prepare a tailored proposal.
