The Monumental Classical Mercury Bronze Sculpture stands at a commanding 250cm, capturing the winged messenger of the gods in full contrapposto stride: one foot raised, one arm reaching skyward, the caduceus staff cutting diagonally across a powerfully twisted torso.
This piece is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, which preserves every nuanced surface detail, from the feathered petasus helmet and talaria wing tips to the fine relief motifs of the ornate circular base. The resulting cast bronze sculpture carries a rich warm brown patina that deepens into darker tones in the recessed areas, giving the figure genuine depth and visual weight. That tonal layering is the hallmark of genuinely hand-finished bronze and cannot be replicated by machine or resin casting. At 350kg, the mass of the piece speaks for itself.
At 250cm tall, this is a sculpture scaled for grand architectural settings. It works naturally as a centrepiece in a formal entrance hall, a double-height atrium, or at the terminus of a garden axis. Its warm bronze tones sit comfortably against pale stone, dark hardwood, and rendered or brick facades alike. The piece is equally at home indoors and outdoors, as solid cast bronze weathers gracefully and requires only occasional waxing to maintain the patina.
We offer a range of patina finishes beyond the warm brown shown, including verdigris, dark brown, and gilded options. The sculpture can also be produced at alternative heights to suit a specific site or architectural brief, inspired by the work of Giambologna. Contact us before ordering to discuss scale, finish, or installation requirements.
