The Monumental Classical Christ Carrying the Cross Bronze Sculpture stands at a commanding 300cm, presenting a four-figure narrative composition of profound weight and stillness. Jesus is bent forward beneath a large cross, a second figure bracing the load at his side, a soldier with staff positioned in the mid-ground, and a kneeling female supplicant to the left; all cast across a sculpted rocky terrain that rises from a wide, low-profile granite slab base.
Every figure in this composition is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, which captures the finest surface detail: the crown of thorns pressing into the brow of the central figure, the tension in each hand, the folds of cloth under strain. The dark bronze patina is applied by hand, building a consistent deep brown-black tone across all figures and the integrated rock terrain. The result reads as a single unified form rather than a collection of separate elements. This is monumental figurative bronze sculpture at the scale of a devotional installation.
The piece suits both sacred interior spaces and exterior settings: a cathedral atrium, a chapel garden, a memorial courtyard, or a cemetery approach. The dark patina holds well outdoors against stone, pale render, or mature planting. Indoors, against polished concrete or dark timber, it commands a large hall or institutional foyer without strain.
We offer a range of patina options from classic verdigris green through to warm antique brown and this deep brown-black finish shown. The scale can be adjusted for specific architectural settings, and we welcome fully bespoke commissions inspired by the work of the original sculptor. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements in detail.
